JOHN MORRISON DUNCAN Loving Husband and Proud Father Peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, under the relentless care of the Health Sciences Centre, John passed away surrounded by his wife, sons and daughter while holding his hand. Remaining to forever cherish John's memory are his loving wife Donna; son David (Leanna); daughter Brenda Fenton (Garth) and youngest son Rob (Debbie); stepchildren, Dale Altstadt (Debbie), Shelley Stewner (Perry), Dayna MacDearmid and Stephen Altstadt; younger brother Robert (Denise); brother-in-law Dennis; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces; nephews; many family and close friends as well as his special Auntie Margaret. He is predeceased by his father John, mother Gladys and sister Donna. John was born August 4, 1942, in Winnipeg, where he grew up and went to school in St. James. Having spent five years in Swan River (1978 1983) with his young family, John was a proud member of the Town Council, Kinsmen Club and was manager of the local Saan Store. John and his family returned to Winnipeg to begin his 25 year career working for Atlantic Service/Kasco Corp. It was in 1990 when he met his loving wife Donna, where they would spend every minute together in each others company or with their friends and family. In the early years, John excelled at baseball and hockey, but later found a love for bowling and golf, encouraging his children to join him so that quality family time could be found on the alleys and the golf course. His latest passion was the ability to effectively play the horses whether at home or while at the track. As per John's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at Assiniboine Downs at the Finish Line Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. A private interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery prior to the memorial for family only. A special thank you to all the staff at the GA4 ward of the Health Sciences Centre, where their tireless efforts made his remaining days comfortable and peaceful. John referred to the nursing staff as his angels and enjoyed his chats with Dr. Ryan Cormier at the end of his shifts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
