ESTHER MAY (MAE) ROBERTSON (nee JONES) Esther May (Mae) Robertson, nee Jones was born into a large family at Domain, MB. She is survived by her husband John and three children from a previous marriage, Bernice Filiatrault of Winnipeg, Al Pinder (Nell) of Eriksdale, MB and Fred Pinder (Shirley) of Pine Dock, MB. She also had grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her surviving siblings are her sister Mary of Bemidji, Minnesota, brother Glen of Vancouver Island and brother Lloyd (Bud) of Morris, MB. During the war Mae served as a pastry chef at the RCAF base in Winnipeg. Later, she operated coffee bars and dress shops in Winnipeg and even managed a store in Churchill, MB for a time. Mae loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Ottawa and British Columbia and especially enjoyed winter trips to Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Her favourite city was San Diego, CA which she visited several times during winter with her husband, John. Mae was a devoted homemaker, cook and baker and also loved gardening and knitting. Suffering from illness, her last month was spent at Oakview Place on Ness Ave. Unfortunately, she suffered a fractured hip and died of pneumonia on December 5, 2007. She will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
