HELEN BARCLAY Helen Barclay, in her 85th year, on December 3, 2007, was promoted to glory after a courageous battle with numerous health problems. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Rev. Richard Barclay (1994), her brothers, Wilfred and George Wood and an infant sister. Her life and strong commitment to caring for people in need and sharing the gospel have left a lasting legacy. She is survived by her brother Ron and Mavis Wood; her son Douglas and Adeline Barclay and family, Heather (Roland) Mueller, Ryan (Kamila) Barclay and Lauren Barclay; her daughter Ruth and Ed Link, and family, Michael (Teresa) Link, Sheri-Lyn (Chris) Adams, Patricia (Al) Herbert; John and Kathy Barclay, and family, Andrea, Susan, Valerie and Victoria Barclay; and her daughter Laura and Ted Franckiewicz and family, Micaela and Richie. As well, Helen dearly loved the great grand-babies and grandkids, Ryland and Vaughn Mueller, Isabella Barclay, Erin and Dylan Link, Rebecca and CJ Adams, and Christian Barclay. Her home was always a place where young and old were welcome with her own special hospitality. Helen Wood was born in Newdale, MB, December 31, 1922. She and her husband, Richard, were in ministry together from 1950 to 1994 with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in various Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario churches. Helen continued with outreach and visitation ministry for most of her life, being honoured by the PAOC for 50 years of ministry with distinction in 2000, at the District Regional Conference. During the 1940s she held auditing and secretarial positions with T. Eaton Co., Defence Industries and CN Railway. Later she worked in Fort Frances Children's Aid office (1970-74) and the PAOC Winnipeg District Office (1976-1986). She moved to Langley, BC in 1998 and Chilliwack in 2005 and made many wonderful friends, as well as renewing old friendships. Over the years, June Wilker has been a very near and dear friend and they were glad to be together again. Funeral service in Langley will be held at Christian Life Assembly, 56th Ave., Monday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Helen Barclay's life will also be held Wednesday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Rev. H. H. Barber will be officiating. In memoriam donations for Pentecostal Theological College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia can be sent to the Missions Dept.
