NELLIE KRUSZELNICKI Peacefully our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother fell asleep in death on December 6, 2007 at Kin Place Nursing Home at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her husband Eddie on May 12, 1983 and her son-in-law Bill Zelinsky on February 19, 1992. Nellie leaves to remember her, her daughter, Beverley Hope (John) of North Springfield and her son, Dennis (Carrolyn) of Bruno, Saskatchewan. Bev's family: Tracy Zelinsky and her children, Elliott Gillies (Nancy), Jessica Mitchell (Owen); Derrick Zelinsky (Lorna) and their children, Elisa Gagnon (Dan) and Danica Mutcher (James); Teresa Wiebe (Tom) and their children, Ariann Vermeulen (Joel), Richard and Richelle; Robert Zelinsky (Robyn) and their children, Lance (Katie), Chace and Falyn: Dan Zelinsky (Blair) and their daughter Allyson. Also, Dennis' family: Michael Kruse and his children Keira and Raiden, and Dallas Kruszelnicki. She also leaves three very special great-great-granddaughters, Isla and Rhaina Gillies and Sophia Vermeulen who she enjoyed so much right to her final days. They really loved their Baba. Mom was the last surviving member of the Piskor family of Pine Ridge, Manitoba, but she is survived by one sister-in-law, Julie Homiak who is 97 years old. She leaves many nieces and nephews, however, we would like to especially mention Gladys Walker, Pat Homenick, and Val Hastings who spent many hours visiting and keeping in touch. We really appreciated their caring. How do you sum up 95 productive years in a few paragraphs? Mom had a very strong work ethic, which she lived by. Even when she could no longer work herself, her greatest joy came from watching her family work, especially in the yard. Her meals were legendary, no one could match Baba's perogies or borscht. Whenever she did anything she did it with all her might. Even knitting well into her 90s. Many of our friends still have some of the wonderful dish clothes she loved to knit. Mom also loved gardening, visiting her family wherever they were, going for rides all over the country, and meals out. We will miss her but will treasure the many memories she has made for us. We want to express our thanks to the marvelous staff at Concordia Hospital Extended Care, Charleswood Care Centre and Kin Place in Oakbank. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make her last days not only comfortable but also joyful. We thank you all very much. We would also like to thank Dr. Wiebe for his caring attitude. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Mr. Joshua Elenbaas officiating. In lieu of flowers friends and family can donate to a charity of their choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Up to about 15 years old, I spent as much time at Dennis' place as anywhere. The folks knew Eddie and his brothers well so there was no concern when they knew where I was going. Nellie was probably as close to a second mom as I had. And when I last saw her at 92 she was still the same. Big smile, glad to see you, asked about everybody and looked for little things to give you. - Posted by: Victor Laird (Friend) on: Dec 10, 2007
