After struggling with dementia for many years he succumbed to a stroke at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, MB. He will be missed by his loving wife Mickey (Muriel), his daughter Sherry Nickerson (Fred), his son Tom and his stepson Bob. Tuta will also be missed by his two granddaughters, Katie and Kelsey and his one grandson, his namesake, Erik. Eric was born in Kokkola, Finland. He was predeceased by his parents during the winter war in Finland. He moved to Toronto, and then worked with Finnish Woodsman in the bush in Thunder Bay, ON. He became a carpenter from there and moved to Calgary. He moved to Winnipeg in 1984 and met Mickey. They became inseparable. He worked for P.C.L. Construction until his retirement in 1991. Eric and his wife retired to the home they built in Great Falls, MB. He loved fishing with his buddies Gordie Bjork and Marcel Brick, his dog Pekka and the outdoors.
