ELAINE MARGARET ROSE BURNET (MAGGY) On December 7, 2007, Maggy Burnet (nee Lepretre), 56, passed away in Lundar, Manitoba with family at her side. Though she left us in peace, she left us prematurely. Maggy grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent time in Toronto, England and Australia before settling into country living in Lundar, Manitoba in 1976. She moved to Winnipeg in 1997 to further pursue her education and received a degree in youth counselling from the University of Manitoba. She worked for the Provincial Department of Justice as a youth counsellor until earlier this year. Maggy had a soft spot for wayward youth and spoke often of unconditional love and of forgiveness. In the second half of her life, she rediscovered Christianity and this provided her with comfort as her condition worsened. Maggy was a devoted mother and grandmother. Maggy was more worried about her kids and her grandchildren after she was gone than her own fate. Special thanks go out to Dad and Kim, who spent the last few months caring for Maggy in Lundar. Maggy particularly enjoyed wild flowers. Taking the time to stop and smell the flowers was a lesson she passed along to her children and her grandchildren. Kim's garden provided a very peaceful place for Maggy to sit and enjoy her surroundings. Maggy appreciated her sister Ina's frequent trips to Winnipeg this year and the love and the laughs that they shared. Thanks also to the caring staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the homecare unit in Lundar. A funeral service will be held at Lundar Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007 with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson. Viewing will be held half an hour prior to the service at the church. After an interment at the Lundar Cemetery, a light lunch will be served at the Lundar Legion Hall. Pallbearers that day for Maggy will be her family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON 1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Love now, always and forever. Arrangements by Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
