Born: Oct 19, 1930
Date of Passing: Dec 12, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA (OLLIE) MACKAY (nee WITYSHYN) After a courageous battle with cancer Ollie passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre. Ollie was predeceased by her loving husband Al MacKay (1992), her parents Mary and Peter Wityshyn, her sister Anne Polisk, her brothers Stephen and John. Ollie is survived by her sons Bill (Carol), Grant and Perry (Cindy), granddaughters Tess and Kerri, her sister Kay Bolonchuk, brothers Paul (Louise) and Walter. Ollie was born October 19, 1930, on her parents' farm near Poplarfield, spending her youth in the Inwood, Manitoba, area. She left home at 16 to work in Winnipeg. A few years later she met Al and they were married in 1953. Ollie worked at various places including Eatons, Sears, Winnipeg Supply and Credit Union Central where she retired in 1990. She had a special talent with her cooking (a little of this and a little of that) which really no one could duplicate. Some of her best memories were at the cottage at Nora Lake spent with family and friends. In her later years she enjoyed a number of activities including being a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, walking, bowling, lawn bowling, golfing, her club group and her gambling trips to the USA. She will sadly be missed by all her friends associated with these activities. Ollie was a kind, generous, strong willed women who always put her family and friends first. She was very thankful that she was in good health for the majority of her life and truly valued the fact she was able to live independently. Up until a few months ago Ollie could be seen regularly walking five miles a day in the Transcona area. Ollie was a special person who touched many people in her life and she will truly be missed by all. As per her wishes Ollie has been cremated and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Program and the staff at the Riverview Health Centre who assisted her in her final days.
