RAYMOND (RAY) ELCOMBE Peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, Ray Elcombe passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 92 years. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Mable, children Beverly Muzyk (Doug), Jim (Irene) of Okotoks, AB, Linda (Fernando) Melizza, grandchildren Kerry-Ann (Rob), and Sheryl (Stuart) Muzyk, C.J., Tyler, and Jesse Elcombe, Kayla and Jenna Melizza. Ray is also survived by his sisters, Hilda, Shirlee, and Iona, and brother, John. He will also be missed by extended family and friends. Ray was predeceased by his parents and brother Arthur. Ray was born May 31, 1915 in Regina. He served in the Army from 1939 to 1945. Ray was a part of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #16 for over 60 years. After returning to Winnipeg following the war, Ray was hired by Canadian National Railway until his early retirement in 1973. Some of his favorite past times were playing cards, traveling, going to the casino and spending time at the family cottage in Matlock. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 at St. Mary Magdalene, 3 St. Vital Road with Rev. Preston Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the wonderful the staff of T4 Deer Lodge Centre for their exceptional care for the past two years, especially his dancing partner Donna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's memory to the Alzheimer's Society, Deer Lodge Centre or a charity of choice.
