Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN RUBINFELD Our extraordinary mother, Doreen Rubinfeld, 72 years young, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital with her loving family by her side. She conducted herself with grace and dignity throughout her brief battle with brain cancer. Our mom was a loving, kind and extremely generous woman who touched the lives of everyone she knew. She treated people with the utmost respect. Both she and our father imbued us with their strong Jewish values, teaching us about the importance of charity and giving of oneself. Mom attended synagogue regularly, and was an active volunteer in ORT, Hadassah-Wizo and NCJW. She edited the first Rosh Pina Cookbook, co-edited the ORT Cookbook and managed the Rosh Pina Synagogue Gift Shop for many years. She enjoyed needlepoint and created many beautiful pictures for family and friends. Doreen was a vibrant, active woman who had a vast array of friends including her daily walking group, her bridge and mah jongg groups, and her Saturday night dinner group - Mom and Dad went out with the same group of friends for dinner every week for 40 years! Nothing pleased her more than buying thoughtful, well-considered gifts for her friends, children, and especially, her grandchildren. Mom cherished spending time with her family, from celebrating holidays and special occasions with extended family to more intimate gatherings with immediate family. Doreen will be terribly missed by her three daughters: Sandy Rubinfeld; Renee Billauer and former son-in-law Eli Billauer; and Andrea Levy and son-in-law Sasson Levy of Israel; grandchildren Adiv and Cobi Billauer, and Daniel, Tamar and Meirav Levy; sister Pearl Globerman and brother-in-law Morley Globerman; sister-in-law Toby Koffman; first cousin and honorary sister' Pam Atnikov; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Alec Rittberg, and her beloved husband, Harry (of Stella Produce fame). Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Congregation Etz Chayim, officiated by Rabbi Larry Lander. Pallbearers were Cobi Billauer, Eli Billauer, Frank Dahle, Daniel Levy, Sasson Levy and Rob Yusim. Honorary pallbearers were Morley Globerman, Sam Minuk, Joe Mindell, Drew Moyer, Bruce Palansky, Jack Raber and Paul Stein. Our family would like to thank Rabbi Lander for his exceptional support, and the fabulous staff on Ward 5B at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate and respectful care. Special mention goes to Dr. Daenick, Dr. Jones, Dr. Humphreys, Dr. Lerner, Dr. McDiarmid, Dr. Sitaruk, and nurses Bonnie, Joanne, Sue Ann, Arthur, Michelle, Ryann, Jocelyne, Tessie, Tecle, nursing assistant Wanda and nursing student Lana. We also want to thank our cousins for their tremendous assistance during this difficult time.
