Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter and her siblings Lyman and Betty. She is survived by one sister Bobbie as well as her six children, Gail Kelsall, Myrna (Allan) Ronald, Carol Marchyshyn, Eldon (Pat)Marchyshyn, Pati Ann (David) Lawe and Peter John (Risa) Marchyshyn/Olekshy. She is also survived by her grandchildren David (Julie), Steven (Debbie), Wendi (Richard), Sandie (Lyle), Vickie (Denis), Eldon Jr. (Gail), Shannon (Trent), Andrew (Lori), Sasha and Natasha and great- grandchildren Amy, Sarah, Toria, Mark, Ben, Joshua, Luke, Jack, Sam, Jesse, Mia, Will and Esther. Mary Jean was born in 1916 in Marshalltown, Iowa and came to Saskatchewan in 1920 with her parents to homestead. After high school, she left the farm to enter nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital and graduated in 1938. She met Dad, fell in love and married that year. They lived in Red Lake, Ontario for a few years and then moved back to Winnipeg. While the children were young, Mom divided her time between home, nursing and working on the farm. Her garden was her sanctuary, and she particularly loved flowers. She was industrious and generous and many enjoyed and benefitted from their abundant produce. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour in 1957, and has been a longtime member of Winnipeg Christian Center. Mom was a strong woman with a simple faith that carried her through life's adventures. Never afraid to learn new things, in her 60s, Mom took counselling courses so she could be a part of It's a New Day television program counselling team, and continued that ministry until just a few weeks ago. She will be deeply missed by her family, church family and many friends. A private family interment was held December 5, 2007 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. There will be a Celebration of Her Life on December 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the Winnipeg Christian Centre, 230 Provencher Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision, a ministry to children that was dear to her heart.
