Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED BOYLE SANDERS With sadness at her death, but thankfulness for a peaceful departure, the Boyle families announce the passing of Winnifred E. Sanders sister, aunt and good friend. Winnifred was born on May 21, 1923 in Neepawa, Manitoba. The majority of her education was received in Neepawa as well as several years at St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg. Her love of little children persuaded her to enroll at Miss Woods School for Primary Educators in Minneapolis. Following her graduation, she accepted a teaching position in Green River, Wyoming, where she stayed for two years. From there she moved to Cudahy, Wisconsin and continued in primary teaching. After a few years the urge for a change in climate saw her arrive in California to teach, finally settling in San Francisco. She was fond of saying a rolling stone gathers no moss and her life was a testament to that. Winn was a master teacher who taught kindergarten for many years at The Frederic Burk School, a demonstration school used in conjunction with San Francisco State University to train future teachers. She loved her students and fellow educators, believing all had wonderful contributions to make in life. She completed her teaching career with the Pacifica Unified School District in Montara, overlooking the majestic Pacific Ocean. It was in San Francisco that she met her husband Howard Sanders. They were married on August 25, 1967 in San Francisco and remained a happy, loving couple for 32 years until his death in 1999. Winnifred's health began to fail some years later which finally necessitated her moving to a nursing home. Winn's home, at the foot of curving Lombard Street, was a favorite destination of family and friends. At Winn's, a warm welcome, excellent conversation, fabulous Caesar salad and crab or fondue and a variety of personalized city highlights were guaranteed! Winn made her adopted home everyone's home. Winn was predeceased by her parents Edward Peter and Rose Mary McHale Boyle, brothers Forrest (Bud), Robert, Kenneth and only sister Irene. She is survived by her brother Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection on December 15, 2007 will be held at All Saints Church, Hayward, California. Cremation has taken place and interment will occur in the Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa at a later date with family in attendance. An Irish Prayer May God grant you always A sunbeam to warm you, A moonbeam to charm you, A sheltering angel So nothing can harm you, Laughter to cheer you, Faithful friends near you, And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.
