IRENE WALKER On Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at Meadowood Manor with her family at her side, Irene Walker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, John Dey; son Robert (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, grandchildren David (Sharon), great-grand-children Alex, Elizabeth and Camilo of Winnipeg, Bill (Beverley) of Rankin Inlet, Susan (Craig Doell), great-grandchildren Emma and Ethan of Morden, MB; daughter Heather (Ted Mackereth); granddaughter Laura (Dan Good) of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by father Harry (1970); mother Ethel (1972); sister Gretchen (2002); and brother Gordon (2003). Irene was born November 5, 1912, in Waldron, Saskatchewan, and then moved to Transcona where she grew up. She married Dad on October 10, 1936. They raised their family in the Riverview District, eventually moving to Victoria, BC, in 1975. They returned to Winnipeg in 1994 to be closer to the family. We all have our special memories of our wife, mother, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private interment will be held at a later date. The world is a better place for you having been in it. You deserve the best possible rest forever. Be at peace Mom, We love you. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Meadowood Manor. Dignity, respect, gentle care and comfort given our Mother is something our family will never forget. A special thank you to Pastor David Holland and his wife for being with us at the end.
