MARGARET BROWN HONDUBURA
Born: May 30, 1920
Date of Passing: Dec 08, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET BROWN HONDUBURA May 30, 1920 - December 8, 2007 Peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital on Saturday, December 8, 2007. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son Larry, daughter-in-law Joanne, grandchildren, Jeff, Marnie (Guillaume) and Kristy, great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Zoe, Devlin, Odin and Chelsey, faithful companion her dog, Ringo, as well as other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, siblings, Bill Bryce, Mary Brook and Jean Marshall. Margaret was raised in the Millbrook area and it was while working the family business of gathering milk and cream from local farmers, she met her childhood sweetheart Michael Hondubura. The romance continued upon their return from the Armed Services and they eventually married in May 1947 settling in Winnipeg. Margaret worked for Eaton's mail-order and later at Blostein's after the family moved to Transcona in 1956. Their long term desire was to move back to the country and they were able to do so in April 1975, settling on family property near Anola where they kept a small hobby farm for the balance of their lives. After Mike's passing in July of 1999, Margaret insisted on remaining on the farm with her best friend, Ringo. Even though the only animals left at this time were bantam chickens, cats and a dog, she maintained her daily schedule of feeding them right up to the time of her being hospitalized two weeks ago. We often referred to the farm as the Anola Hilton for animals and even while in hospital she asked about them everyday. Margaret was still able to cut her grass twice a week, albeit from a riding lawnmower, tend to her garden and flowers, feed the birds and let Ringo walk her several times a day. It's difficult to say goodbye to someone who was such a big part of your life, but timeless memories will help ease the pain. The family would like to thank the staff at the Beausejour Hospital for the excellent care and attention they gave Margaret during her stay there, especially Drs. Van Rensburg and Schmidt. A special thanks to Don and Valerie Brook, Freddie and Sherry Wilson, Kevin and Rhonda Kaluzny, Brent Delmage and Mom's dear friend Debbie Gott. In keeping with Margaret's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and her remains will be interred at a later date. Donations in Margaret's memory can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
