MARY CHEREPAK (SHWETZ) On Thursday, December 13, 2007 Mary passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospice. Mom was preceded by her husband Joseph in December 15, 1973, her grandson David March 14, 1986, three brothers, Fred, Mike, and John and her sisters, Katherine and Natalie. Mom is survived by her daughter Pat (John) Kernot, sons, David (Mavis), and Gordon (Arlene) Cherepak; grandchildren, Brenda, Darlene, Joanne (Keith), Michelle, Corinne, Michael (Joanne), Jason (Lorie); great-grandchildren, Megan, Johnathan, Keri-Lynn, David, Jack, Ella, Noah, Alanna, and Matthew; great-great-grandchildren, Kendall and Braxton. Mom is also survived by her sisters, Sally, Bernice, Sophia, Jeannie, and Joyce. Mom was born in Zbaraz, Manitoba, April 15, 1916. Mom and Dad had itchy feet and left the farm setting up a coffee shop and pool hall in Poplarfield, Manitoba. They then moved to Inwood Manitoba, where Mom ran the Lantern Café for some years. In 1949 Mom and Dad moved to Winnipeg. In 1951 Mom and Dad purchased and opened the Hollywood Inn, on Pembina Hwy, Later changing the name to the Chicken Pantry, she successfully ran the drive-inn restaurant until 1960. She then purchased Peggy's Pantry on Portage Avenue and thus began a successful career in catering. She ran the Silver Slipper banquet hall on Pembina Highway until 1974, when she retired. According to her wishes, a memorial service will be held Monday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagles Club, in St. Norbert, 3459 Pembina Hwy.
