Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENORA (FRIESEN) THIESSEN Lenora Thiessen passed away peacefully with family beside her at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 13, 2007. Lenora will be missed very much and leaves to mourn: her five children and their families, Ronald (Herta), Bernard (Alvina), William (Karin), Irvin and Carolyn (Jochen) Eggert; her 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her sister Nettie Neufeld and husband Abram; her sister-in-law Nettie (Klassen) Friesen; and many nieces, nephews and extended family relatives. Lenora was predeceased by her husband Abram J. (A.J.); her parents, Bernhard and Katherina (Buhr) Friesen; her brothers, Ernest and Elvin; and her sister Mary. Lenora was born in Edenthal, MB on October 18, 1914. Raised on the farm and educated in the local school, she developed many talents and leadership skills. She married Abram J. on July 28, 1935 in the Edenthal Mennonite Church, and thereafter, moved to Rosenfeld, MB, where the family grew and prospered. The family moved to a farm south of Altona in 1954. Lenora enjoyed this opportunity and thrived in managing all the various aspects of the farm and household. Abram and she moved to Winnipeg in 1965. She moved into Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in 1998. Lenora was innovative and met the seamstress needs of both friends and family. Her gardens were large and bountiful. Lenora's cooking and baking was well known for being tasty and delicious. She could accomplish a great deal in one day being energetic, efficient and a hard worker. She was fun-loving, enjoyed games and cards with friends, family and grandchildren. She had a great sense of humour and hearty laugh. Lenora enjoyed reading, loved artistic hobbies and fostered fellowship with friends and family. Fishing was her passion and she caught some large ones that did not get away. Lenora was gentle, considerate and compassionate. Deeply religious and a strong woman of faith, she remained a committed member of various Mennonite churches throughout her life. The family is very grateful and appreciative to Dr. Chris Loepp and all the healthcare workers at Bethania, who provided excellent, loving and wonderful care of Lenora. We thank each one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home Memorial Fund . Viewing will be held at the Thompson In The Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame, Winnipeg at 10:30 a.m. on December 19, 2007. Interment will be at the Rosenfeld Cemetery, followed by refreshments at the Rosenfeld Senior Good Neighbour Community Centre after 3:30 p.m. on December 19, 2007.
