BARBARA BILOWUS (nee POHREBNIAK) April 24, 1924 - December 15, 2007. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother at Holy Family Nursing Home. Barbara was predeceased by her son Peter in 1995. She will be deeply missed by her husband Wasyl of 62 years; her children, Michael (Judy), George (Louise), Bogdan (Karen) and Daria (John Vickers). Her grandchildren, Cindy Loeb (Kevin), Theo (Amanda), David (Vanessa), Angela Kazuk (Kevin) and Jennifer; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brayden, Riley, Nathan and Kayla, with relatives and friends in Ukraine, Germany and Australia. Barbara was born in Shkarivka in Ukraine, she went to Germany where she met and married Wasyl, and they went on to have five children and in 1965, they made Winnipeg their home. Barbara was a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and Institute Prosvita. In her earlier years, she loved painting Pysanky and Ukrainian carved folk art. Barbara was an avid gardener and her tomatoes were the best in town as she collected seeds from many different sources, which created tomatoes that were so big that a meal could be created from just one and she also was a great cook and her homemade garlic sausage she made every Easter was incomparable. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M Buyachok officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. We the family would like to thank the Holy Family Nursing Home staff for their wonderful and compassionate care of our beloved Barbara. In lieu of flowers, please send Donations to Help for Ukraine (Pomitch Ukrainy). VICHNAYA PAMYAT Rest in Peace Korban Funeral Chapel 956-2193
