RUBY ADELINE GIGUERE (nee CRUICKSHANK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Marcel. Ruby will be missed by her sons, Raymond and Ross (Lauma); her grandchildren, Teresa (David) and Tracey (John); her great-grandchildren, Alexander and Nathan; her five sisters, Violet, Grace, Jenny (Wes), Bessie and Joan; and relatives and friends. Ruby was born in Winnipeg. She spent many summers at her favourite place, Laurentia Beach. It was there that she and Marcel enjoyed swimming with their sons and later their granddaughters. In compliance with Ruby's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruby's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Firefighters Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am a year older than Ross and Ruby sort of baby-sat me during the week when my parents were in the city during the summers at the beach. I have very fond memories of Marcel, Ross, Ray & Muggs. I called her Muggs because she drove the getaway car to the store. - Posted by: Ron LaCharite (She was my 2nd Mom at Laurentia Beach in the 1950's) on: Aug 03, 2014

  • When we were just newly married, we bought a little house right next door to Ruby & Marcel. At that time I worked by the CPR station and in the mornings I would give Ruby a ride downtown every weekday (when my little Volkswagen would start). We lived there until our move to a larger home in Windsor Park. And then we sort of lost touch, but used to see son Raymond when he visited the youg lady across the street. We later moved to Vancouver and a few times were in touch with Ruby at Christmas time. Many times on our return visits to Winnipeg, we intended to stop by and see Ruby, but as the saying goes - there was never enough time. We have such fond memories of those days and Ruby and Marcel were such good neighbours. So glad to have been touched by her memory again. - Posted by: Ray & Lucy Decloux (friends and neighbours) on: Oct 21, 2013

  • I worked with Ruby at Gore Mutual in 1966-1968. Ruby was my supervisor and my first mentor. She was like a mother to me and showed me the ropes in my very first job (file clerk). I eventually moved away from Winnipeg, but I never forgot Ruby. She had invited me to her home in St. Boniface. She often spoke proudly of her sons. I am happy to know she lived a long life and had many grandchildren to remember her. - Posted by: Patricia Brennan (Co worker ) on: Mar 08, 2012
