Date of Passing: Dec 14, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER HAROLD KERNOT JR. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad (Peter) Harold Kernot Jr. on December 14, 2007 at the age of 61 years, at his residence in Arborg, MB. His mother Anne (1985), his brother Donald (1976), and sister Betty Ann (1952) predeceased him. He will be sad missed by his daughter Karen and granddaughter Samantha of Winnipeg, MB; his son Warren and granddaughters, Danielle, Jordane, and Paige of Portage la Prairie; special friend Irene Angus of Gimli, MB; his father Peter of Sylvan, MB; his brothers, David (Joanne) of Stonewall, MB, Henry (Carol) of Winnipeg, MB, John and Douglas of Sylvan, MB; sister Pat (Russell) Deneka of Arborg, MB. Besides his family, he leaves aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends to mourn his passing. Dad was born on December 14, 1946. He was raised in the district of Sylvan where he lived most of his life. He was a hard worker and very safety conscious around farm machinery. He later worked in the construction industry, where he became a highly skilled operator of heavy equipment. He took pride in his work and anyone he worked with over the years could easily tell us that he always did a good job. During his many years on working in the construction industry he worked for Ramsey Bird (in 1965 on the floodway), Mulder Construction, Marval Construction, Nelson River Construction, Riverside Construction, Glenco Construction, Strilkiwski Contracting, Glacier North Construction and others. Dad also enjoyed farming in the Sylvan area for several years while continuing to work for construction companies. One of Dad's favourite outings was going for a ride on Sunday afternoon to check out the crops in the area. We often ended these outings by visiting our grandparents in Hodgson or in Sylvan. As children, he taught us to operate farm machinery and the backhoe, safety was always his biggest concern. He also taught us to drive the truck and we could often be seen sitting on his knee going down the back roads, while we steered the truck. These experiences gave us confidence and as we matured, we were able to get our driver's license with Dad knowing we had all the necessary skills. This, of course, put Dad's mind at ease knowing we would soon be asking for the keys to his truck. Although Dad's life was sometimes a struggle, he was always happy to spend time with us and his grandchildren. We will especially remember the many Christmas dinners we shared over the past several years. Rest in Peace, Dad. We love you; you will always be in our hearts. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Silver Hall, Silver, Manitoba. Interment will follow at Sylvan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Lindal, George Heibert, Bob Thompson, Donald Krawec, Albert Shewchuk, Jim Gulay. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to a charity of their choice. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
