ADELA HOFMAN It is with an overwhelming sense of sadness and loss we announce the passing of our most cherished precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Adela Hofman, at the age of 88 years. Adela took her last breath and peacefully passed away at the Luther Home on December 16, 2007 with her two daughters, at her side, holding her hand as she slowly made her journey into heaven to once again be reunited with her beloved husband, Leon, who predeceased her in March of 2001 after 55 years of marriage. Mom is survived by her daughters, Mary (Jim Bolton), Liz (Doug Neufeld), son John (Josie), eight grandchildren, Theresa, James, Daniel, Michael, Matthew, Jacqueline, Jeanette, Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, Kate, Hannah, Presley, Clark and Braydon and also family in Poland. Mom was born in Poland in 1919. During the time of the Second World War, while in Germany, she met and married the true love of her life, Leon. Together Mom and Dad traveled through two continents before finding their way to Canada, working hard and tirelessly throughout, in their search of a better life and future, struggling to ensure their family never lacked for anything while they often went without. Mom worked tirelessly her whole life, endured numerous hardships and extreme difficult times, yet managed somehow to overcome them all. Truly an inspiration to us all. Mom was a very devout Catholic who relied on her faith to guide her through life and instilled this faith into her children. Her daily prayers always, without fail, included their well-being and happiness. Mom was a proud member of the Catholic Women's League and also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mom was was a woman who took tremendous pride in her family and all of their achievements. Mom would offer her knowledge, her wisdom, her generosity and her heart, which never failed to sustain us. One of her most memorable quotes, There is nothing in this world so bad that something good won't come out of it , has proved true many times over. Mom was truly the glue in our family. Mom was very well known for her world-class perogies and her walnut torte (among all her other goodies ). We quickly learned never to go to Mom's home on a full stomach. Within minutes, Mom would always have a spread prepared, saying yee-eat, yee-eat , which of course meant we had to yee-eat !! There was no choice. Although Mom was a very strong determined fighter, she lost a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Right up to the very end, Mom always attempted to hide how very difficult and painful this struggle was, just to try and make it easier on her family. How does one overcome the heartbreaking loss of such a truly unique, remarkable, amazing lady? One can't and never will. Mom will never die because she will always continue to live in our hearts and in our thoughts, where we will forever and for always love her, cherish her and continue to learn from her. We would like to sincerely thank our extended family from the Luther Home for their caring and compassion in taking care of our Mom for the past one and one-half years and making it truly a home for her. We are especially grateful for the extra love and attention you showed her and to us, in making her last days as comfortable as possible. We are truly grateful. Thank-you. Prayers for Mom will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare, MB, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm. ON109, R3E 0V9 or to the Luther Home, 1081 Andrews St., R2V 2G9, in Mom's memory. WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK RACZ JEJ DACZ PANIE CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
