Date of Passing: Dec 16, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN EDITH GRANT (REEVES) (nee MURRAY) It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the Vista Park Lodge at the age of 93 years. Jean will be sadly missed by her son Murray (Judy); daughter Elizabeth (Jack); grand-children Brent Bickell, Brian Bickell (Charlene); and granddaughter Alanna Grant (fiancé Cole). Jean also leaves three great-grandchildren; Jack's children Ryan and Tara and their spouses; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and her Godson Donald Murray. Jean was predeceased by her first husband Bill; second husband Roy; her parents; sister Ann; and brother Bill. Born November 29, 1914, in Winnipeg to Thomas and Mildred Murray, it was here in Winnipeg where Jean lived most of her life. She and Dad retired to Victoria in 1975 until her failing health brought her back to Winnipeg in 1999. Jean resided at the Westhaven until August of 2006 and then moved into Vista Park Lodge. Jean was proud to be a founding member of the Fairfield Seniors Center in Victoria, BC. Mom was a wonderful lady. She was a very loving Mother and also a good friend. Jean had a great sense of humour and was a happy soul who was great fun to be with. Mom was always there to lend a helping hand and was there to support us through the tough times. She was a very understanding person and always put her kids first. Mom taught us how to be good parents by example. Jean had a few heartaches in her life, and some health problems over the last 10 years but she never complained. She just lived her life as fully as she was able. Mom made many friends over her life and loved them dearly, communicating with them through her beautiful long letters and in later years by phone. She will be missed by her friends, especially by Grace and Charlie of Victoria, BC. A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Thursday, December 20, at 2:00 p.m., in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB. The family would like to thank the staff at the Vista Park Lodge for their sincere, caring support and wonderful care given to Mom. In lieu of flowers donations in Jean's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
