PHILIP CHARLES SMITH August 7, 1954 - December 18, 2007 It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phil Smith Smitty on December 18, 2007, at the age of 53 with his family by his side. Phil was a loving, caring and devoted husband of 31 years as well as an extremely proud and loving father to his two children. He will be missed beyond what words can describe. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Barb, son Jeff, daughter Jamie and Jeff's girlfriend Kerry. He is also survived by his sisters Isabel (Tony) and Joyce and brothers Vern and Gary; his father-in-law Nelson Lemieux, sister-in-law Rachel (Ken) and brothers-in-law Phil (Darlene) and Bruce (Sherry); as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (1991), father Merlyn (1976), brother Bruce (2006) and mother-in-law Yvonne (1986). Phil was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and later moved with his parents to Winnipeg in 1972. Phil's greatest pleasures included golfing, fishing, camping, spending time on his patio with family and friends and teasing everyone he liked. He spent numerous hours on renovation projects as well as enjoying his garage that he built. Phil's early working career was spent as a heavy duty mechanic and eventually progressed to his current position as Service Manager for Wajax Industries. He formed friendships with many people throughout his career and was well respected. A celebration of Phil's life will take place on Saturday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Phil's honour to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation (Cardiology), 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R2J 9Z9. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Phil was an absolute pleasure to deal with. His jovial voice and commitment to customer service was always welcome during stressful times.I recently transfered to Edmonton, and yet Phil was still there to help me get things done by contacting his colleagues and asking them to help me out. When told of his passing I was absolutely shocked and saddened, and I would like to extend my personal sympathy to his family and friends and also the sympathy of my colleagues at TNT. Bless you all - Posted by: Andrew Hisco (Family) on: Dec 20, 2007
