DOREEN GRACE MCMULLIN (KENNEDY) December 26, 1936 - December 17, 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce that Doreen Grace McMullin went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 17, 2007. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 47 years, Dennis; sons Doug and Wendy, Dave and Jody; daughter Deanne and Randy; grandsons Jesse and Tyler; granddaughters April and Ed, Candise and Neill, and Sara; and great-grandsons Noah and Zeke. Doreen will also be missed by mother-in-law Marge; brothers David and Alice, Dennis and Emily; and sister Dale; brothers-in-law Victor, Herb and Helen; sister-in-law Barbara and Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends Orland and Terry. Predeceased by parents Cecil and Grace, father-in-law Herb and best friend and sister, Donna. Mom joined the Reserve Navy at HMCS Chippawa in February of 1955 as a Pay Writer. She took her New Entry training in HMCS Cornwallis in Digby, Nova Scotia, that year and attended trades training in Ville La Salle, Quebec. She remained in the Women's Reserve Navy (Wrens) until her marriage on June 25, 1960. Mom was presently an active member of the Ex-Wrens Association - Chippawa Division and was on the Reunion Committee of the Final Ex-Wrens Reunion held in Winnipeg in September 2006 where she acted as Chairperson of the Saturday Tours. To this day Mom had stayed in touch with her many Navy gals whom she joined up with over one-half century ago. After their marriage, Mom and Dad began raising their family in Transcona. Mom always encouraged her kids and grandkids to follow any and all activities in which they expressed an interest. She was actively involved in many of our sporting activities, either as a coach or avid supporter. She was also a member of Transcona Memorial United Church for many years where she spent time teaching Sunday School, organizing a seniors group and serving on numerous committees. Mom often shared her childhood memories of visiting her family cottage at Grand Marais. She passed this love of the beach life on to her children and many more cherished memories were created with her extended family who own cottages in the area. After many years of travel to Florida, Mom and Dad made Swan Lake, Titusville their second home. There they enjoyed many golfing games and participating in the follies at the Community Club. Mom also found joy in attending Indian River City United Methodist Church. Mom treasured the time she was able to spend with their great friends in Titusville. Mom's greatest gift to us was the love and value of family. Using any excuse for a get-together, she organized many family gatherings. Her favourite was the big Christmas Eve dinner where she was delighted to see all those she loved celebrating together. On Friday, December 21, 2007, an interment procession will leave Transcona Memorial United Church (209 Yale Avenue West) at 12:15 p.m. for the Transcona Cemetery. Those wishing to attend can meet at the church. A celebration of Doreen's life will be held at the church at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart Stroke Foundation. Thanks be to God for a life well lived. We shall rejoice in it.

I miss you. I miss you peeling vegetables in the living room. I miss you borrowing my funny clothes to wear to theme parties. I miss mushroom tuna melts and having my crusts cut off. I miss your music taste ranging from Simon and Garfunkle to KISS. Teaching my friends how to have cleavage. Telling me to wear my hair long and off my face. Crawling into bed with you after a nightmare and faking sick to spend the day with you. I miss you. - Posted by: Candise Doreen McMullin (Granddaughter) on: Jul 11, 2014
