HELEN DYCHUK (nee PETRASH) Dear Mother, Sister, Baba Mother died peacefully on December 20, 2007, at Goodwin Lodge in Teulon, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in June 1999 and her brother Stephen in 1964. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Laing, Vivian Gustafson (Robert) and Christine Dychuk as well as her beloved grandchildren, Charles (Sanjita) and Chris Laing, Beta (Fiancé James) and Moira Gustafson, and great-grandchildren, Cody and Tyler Laing. She is also survived by her sister Olga Bazan (Ed) and her brother Gerald Petrash as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mother came to Canada from the Ukraine at the young age of 15. At 19, she married Bill and quickly learned about being a farmer's wife: how to cook and bake; grow a garden; and raise a family. Hard-working, determined and feisty, she was the glue that held the family and farm together. After retiring from the farm, she enjoyed her huge garden in the town of Teulon, visiting friends and neighbours, and travelling to Calgary, Yellowknife, Vancouver, Kitchener, Puerto Vallarta and Las Vegas. In recent years, she suffered a series of strokes that robbed her of the ability to enjoy many of her former activities. Thank you to her many friends who visited her and brightened her days. Special thanks to Lorraine and her wonderfully patient caregivers at Goodwin Lodge for their many acts of kindness to Mother and to all the residents there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goodwin Lodge or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Interment will take place at Windsor Cemetery. Rev. Father Gerald Langevin will officiate. We are grateful for her life and that she is now at rest. Rest in Peace, Mother. VICHNAYA PAMYAT MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
