RENA SCHWALM (nee LUKE) October 29, 1919 - December 20, 2007 Rena passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of her husband Orval, son Bill at Rivers Personal Care Home after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She is now free of pain and in the arms of Jesus. She was predeceased by sons Charles in 1943 and Allan in 1998, and is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Orval of Rivers, Manitoba and son Bill of Calgary and daughter Linda Collins, son-in-law Jack and grandsons Thomas and Sean Collins all of Thunder Bay, ON. She is also survived by many sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. Rena was born at Fulda, SK and met her husband Orval, whom she married in Humboldt, SK February 16, 1942. Due to her husband being a member of the RCAF from 1942 - 1965 they lived on various military bases in Western Canada settling in Rivers in 1968. She was a devoted wife and mother and had a great fondness for animals. She served for many years as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. Her sewing skills were put to good use in providing clothing for herself and family and many others. She spent numerous enjoyable hours doing various crafts. She will be sorely missed by many relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Rena's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, R3C 4G2. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
