Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN ISABELLA ROBERTSON (HALL) It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ellen Isabella Robertson on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Misericordia Health Centre at the age 105 years. While Ellen's life was long and rich the afterglow of her warm and gracious spirit lingers on. Her constant blessings can still be heard and positive soul can still be felt by those fortunate enough to have met her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Andrea (Peter Coleman) of Arizona, Dixon Robertson (Audrey) and Elizabeth (Bernard Koley) both of Winnipeg. Lovingly remembering her are a devoted extensive family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, across Canada and the USA. Ellen was one of 10 children, a twin born May 29, 1902 in the North West Territories to Walter Henry Hall of Bristol, England and her mother Jane (Bulloch) of Lanark, Scotland. Her father was editor of the first newspaper in Wolseley, SK in the early 1900s. Ellen met and married Andrew Reid Robertson in 1930. She was predeceased by her husband, her siblings, except for her twin, Sarah Jean Mougin of Arizona. The twins have been recognized as the oldest living twins in the world by Guinness World Records as of 2007, they were 105. Ellen felt extraordinary to be a twin and was very close with her sister. Ellen enjoyed and lived a full life. The twins played musical theatre, faithfully went to church, belonged to Church groups and were very respectful of each sibling and parents. The twins danced at the Fort Garry Hotel, presented shows at the Capital, Lyceum, Winnipeg Theatre, Roseland Dance Garden, Dominion and the Pantages. They also danced with brother Kelly with the Winnipeg Kiddies at the Royal Alec. Schools attended were John M. King, Somerset, Isbister and Dominion College for clerical training, later to Success College. Her first job was with John Hadden, John W. Peck Company and Osler Hammond and Nanton. She stayed home to raise her three children and returned to work for the Society for Crippled Children in 1952 retiring in 1967, her most rewarding job, she would comment that it felt like she was on holiday when she went to work everyday. Ellen lived a healthy and religious lifestyle full of generosity, selflessness and an endearing respect for those around her. In her lifetime she devoted her time to those in need. She led exercise classes until she was 93, enjoyed whist tournaments, afternoon crib games and continued to play cribbage until the end. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She looked forward to their visits and being a part of all of the celebrations and dinners throughout the years. Endearing friends that the family extends its thanks to Pearl, Anne and Mary from the Oakland Estates where she lived for 25 years. Thank you to home care staff for their support while she was in her apartment. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the medical and nursing staff for all of the kindness, care and support given to Ellen while residing at Misericordia Health Centre at 3 Wolseley and 6 Cornish over the past year. Her final time was made as comfortable as possible by the caring staff and wonderful friends she acquired while there. It was Ellen's wishes that no funeral service would be held. Her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date with family. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Grandmother most dear to us showing how precious love can be, love you forever. Funeral Arrangements in care of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE, WEST AT BOND 224-1525
