NEIL MACLEAN It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our brother and uncle, Neil MacLean, at The Riverview Health Centre on December 22, 2007 after a courageous and valiant struggle with cancer. Predeceased by parents Don and Doreen; Lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his brother Don (Donna); sisters Cheryl Ann (Jeff), Alison (Duane); five nieces and nephews, Allison and Donnie (Keely) MacLean, Laura and Levon Henderson, Stephen Parish, and special friend Carly. Neil was born on August 1, 1953. Recently, he worked for Canada Post at the Church Avenue depot as a depot supervisor. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed the everyday challenges. He also spoke highly of the people with whom he worked and enjoyed their camaraderie. Neil had many passions that included friends, music, sports and the outdoors. Since he was a young man, his guitar was like a vital organ to him and he absolutely loved to entertain. Whether it was playing professionally at a local bar in Winnipeg, Winnipeg Beach, Grand Beach, or sitting around a campfire with his closest friends, music was everything to him. Neil grew up a fantastic athlete and was an avid basketball and volleyball player. As an adult he maintained these skills and still loved to play hockey and was a fanatic about golf. Neil also enjoyed his many ice fishing trips and his relaxing times at Lundar Beach. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of his wonderful friends who rallied to his needs this last year. When times were difficult for Neil, his friends came together and supported him through his struggles and we appreciate the efforts that everyone made to help him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Neil's memory can be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements Entrusted To: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My heartfelt condolences to Neil's family. I knew Neil intimately from the late 1970s, when I fell in love with him and his beautiful presence and music. Neil loved to entertain people and to touch people emotionally. Though time and distance have long parted us, my beloved friend Neil, our hearts remain locked together as one. I now know you went before to prepare the way. What an honor! Isn't that what musicians do? Now I'm hoping to see you again soon. - Posted by: Elke Royle (Close friend) on: Jul 10, 2023
