He was 85. Elvin was born in Kamsack, SK on May 21, 1922, the youngest child and only son of the late Charles and Eleanore Boggs (nee Couture). He attended primary and secondary school in Kamsack, graduating in 1941. He joined the R.C.A.F. on November 7, 1941 and was Honourably Discharged as a pilot officer in April of 1945. He then went on to CN Rail working in Western Canada and Thunder Bay from 1945 to 1978. He then worked for the T.S.B. of Canada as an Accident Investigator, retiring in March 2000, following a 58 year working career. As a young man he played the horn in the Kamsack school band. Later in life he chose the violin and played with the Saskatoon Symphony. Elvin enjoyed music, concerts, dining out and had a special liking for chocolate. Elvin liked to travel, his favourites being Hawaii and Las Vegas. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club (VE4AL), Royal Canadian Legion Br. 90, Officer's Mess 17 Wing and CN Pensioner's Assoc. of Manitoba. He was a quiet, gentle man who was very personable, worked hard, liked to laugh and always had an Irish twinkle in his eye. Elvin lived a long, full life; in his later years he met various medical challenges, fighting with dignity to the end. Elvin leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, his devoted wife Marilynn and his sister Katherine Reynaud. He leaves his children Lorraine (Allan) Neilsen, Brian (Eileen), Allison (Marcel) Marion and Ronald (Annette) Andrews; grandsons David and Jesse Neilsen, Michael Marion and Andrew Boggs, as well as nieces, nephews, Marilynn's extended family in Thunder Bay, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Lillian Adam, Iona Dixon and Elaine Bentley. Cremation has taken place as per Elvin's wishes. Funeral Mass for the late Elvin Boggs will be held at St. Timothy's Parish, 135 John Forsyth Rd. on Saturday, 29 December, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Phil Daley officiating. Internment of ashes will take place at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery, Thunder Bay, ON. Elvin always said his obituary should read: He was here, he left.
