GERTRUDE GERWIN Jesus Geh Voran Gertrude Gerwin went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on December 26, 2007 at the age of 92. She died peacefully in her sleep at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Many thanks to the staff and facility for providing the home and care that she needed in her final years. Gertrude was born in Wymyschle, Poland and immigrated to Canada as a widow and Second World War refugee in 1948. She was eternally grateful for her new country and home where she thrived through hard work and opportunity. She was preceded in death by her husbands Ewald Pletz (1945) and Arnold Gerwin (1995), her daughter Martha DeFehr and 11 siblings. She is survived by her brother Arthur Kliewer, her son Vern Pletz and his wife Hedy, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Highway. Viewing Tuesday, January 1 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, and at the church prior to the service. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
