JOSEPH (JOE) PERSOAGE
Date of Passing: Dec 26, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH (JOE) PERSOAGE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, Poppa and friend, Joe, on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Joe's memory are his beloved wife Doreen; sons, Randy (Val), Calgary, and Reid (Lynne); grandchildren, Cori (Calgary), Katelyn and Michael and great- grandson Parker (Calgary); step-grandchildren, Terri (Marty), Sheri (Mike) and their children, Tori, Paige, Sydney (Terri) and Elias (Sheri) (all of Calgary); sisters, Mary Keetbaas (Calgary) and Jean (Ed) Futz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents Alex and Polly (Urbanovich); sister Rose and brothers Bill, Pete and Tony. Joe was admitted to St. Boniface Hospital on December 19 and suffered an unexpected heart attack one day shy of his 86th birthday. Joe, second youngest of seven children, grew up in Teulon where he met his future wife, Doreen Gullikson. Joe and Doreen made their home in Winnipeg, where they raised two sons, and where they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past October. Joe worked for many years at Assiniboia Downs, initially at the Polo Park location. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his soul mate Doreen, and the two of them were out and about as much as possible. They spent many enjoyable hours with Cori, Katelyn and Michael in their early years. They loved to travel through their life together with numerous trips to New Orleans and the States when the boys were little, and later on to Hawaii. When Randy moved to Calgary they went as often as they could. Joe was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments, but even more so of all his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. Interment to take place at Norris Lake Cemetery later this year. Special thanks to the Staff at the Dialysis Unit and the 6th floor at St. B., especially Beth, for your care of Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6 or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 730 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 2K8, are appreciated. Poppa, we have been blessed to have you in our lives for as long as we have. We will miss you terribly. Goodbye, we love you.
