Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONA VERA CLARKE (nee ALLBUTT) July 27, 1917 - December 25, 2007 Peacefully on December 25, 2007, Mona passed away at Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Mona is survived by four of her five children, Bob, Betty-Ann (Roger), Barb, Tom; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and by her brother Fred. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Neil Clarke in December 2005; her eldest daughter Jacqueline Mona (Al); daughter-in-law Patricia Evelyn (Bob) both in August 2004. She was also predeceased by her parents Cliff and Vera Allbutt; sister Margaret and brothers Cliff and Bill. Mom was the oldest of five. Growing up on Albany Street in St. James, she completed her schooling at Linwood School where she met our Dad. In the late thirties, her family bought property in Charleswood where they built a home and on September 8, 1945 married our Dad in a beautiful garden ceremony. Mom was a busy homemaker, raising five children, sewing our clothes, knitted our socks, mitts, scarves and toques. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. She made jams and jellies every fall from the fruit from the fruit trees in our backyard. She baked, knitted, crocheted, canned and pickled; and painted any area of the house that needed it along with the six-foot wooden fence around the backyard. Mom was very active in the community, volunteering at the local community and was a lifetime member of the Municipal and Provincial IODE. She sang in the Riverview United Church choir for years and was a good friend to many in the Riverview area. Mom travelled and saw the world with our Dad but always considered Darling Street home. Mom was employed at Eaton's for many years, retiring in 1977. We would like to sincerely thank those at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their love and care of our Mom over the past two years. A special thank you to Georgina and all the companions who spent time with Mom. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 2 at 11:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Inkster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mona's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
