ROBERT (RENE) JACULAK It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Robert (Rene) Jaculak aged 59 years at his residence in Victoria, BC on December 19, 2007. Rene will be sadly missed, and fondly remembered by his son Dallas (Jane), daughter Amber (Sean), his grandchildren Aidan, Keely, Alexis, and Hadley, his loving companion Lindsay and her family (Jennifer, Devon, and Colin), his mother Frances, brother Larry (Bev), sister Valerie (Jim) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father Maurice in 1980 and brother Douglas (Irene) in 1996. Robert Lorne (Rene) was born in Winnipeg on October 17, 1948, the first born child of Maurice and Frances Jaculak. He would spend his childhood raising hell with his brothers and sister attending Glen Elm Elementary, Lord Selkirk middle school, and then ironically graduating from North Battleford seminary school in Saskatchewan. Rene was a devoted father who spent countless years coaching baseball teams, skipping curling teams, camping and fishing at numerous lakes across Manitoba, and all in all cheering and encouraging his children in anything they did. After his retirement from the federal government in 2002, Rene relocated to Victoria, BC where he was able to fulfill his passions of golf and travel with his now life partner Lindsay. They would spend their winters golfing with their RV in Arizona; summers were their time to spend here in Winnipeg with his family. A time to see his grandchildren who were the light of his life! Sunday afternoons were always well-anticipated by his grand-children patiently waiting for grandpa to call, and they always looked forward to July when grandpa and Lindsay would come to Winnipeg for their summer vacation. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful hospice and palliative care team from Victoria with whom their care and compassion allowed Dad to be at home with Lindsay and his dog Monty until his passing. A memorial service celebrating Rene's life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home (Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road). Memorial donations may be made in Rene's honour to the Canadian Cancer Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association. They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal, But neither time or reason, Will change the way we feel. For no one knows the heartache, That lies behind our smiles, No one knows how many times, We have broken down and cried. We want to tell you something, So there won't be any doubt, You're so wonderful the think of, And so hard to be without. We cannot bring the old days back, When we were all together, The family chain is broken now, But memories are forever.
