Date of Passing: Dec 25, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA VERA MARGARET MAY ANDREWS (nee McLEOD) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eva Andrews, mother, grandmother, GeeGee (great-grandmother) on December 25, 2007 at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 98. Left to cherish her memory are her twin daughters, Lois Swistun (Jack Hardie) and Verna Arnold (Jerry). Eva is lovingly remembered by Clyde McLeod, her only remaining sibling of 18 children. She will also be greatly missed and forever remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Eva was predeceased by her husband Charles Leslie Andrews; daughter Peggy McLachlan; only son John Arthur; sons-in-law, Don McLachlan and William Swistun; and great-grandson Daniel Swistun. Eva was born to James and Maggie McLeod in Oakbank on March 12, 1909. She met and married Les, and they raised their family in Birds Hill. Eva and Les operated a mink ranch until Les's untimely death in 1964. She moved back to the place of her birth in 1999, and lived there independently at Kin Place, until her passing. Eva always enjoyed the company of friends and family, and good conversation. She loved to play cards, cribbage, and bingo and spent countless hours teaching her many grandchildren how to play. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She looked forward to their visits and being a part of all the celebrations and gatherings throughout the years. GeeGee loved that there was always a new grandchild to be held. Eva traveled extensively throughout her life and was most optimistically planning one more trip to her favourite place, Hawaii. A celebration of her life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on December 31 at Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent. She will rest peacefully alongside her husband, daughter and son at Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
