MARIA ALVES RODRIGUES VIEIRA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Maria Alves Rodrigues Vieira, on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at the age of 91. Maria was born in Oleiros, Ponte da Barca, Portugal on July 1, 1916 and immigrated to Canada with her family on October 9, 1964. Maria was devoted to her family and was loved by all those who knew her. She was a strong willed, resilient woman who overcame many difficulties in her life. At the same time, she was a warm hearted, caring woman who always showed her family how much she loved them. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her children, Maria (Afonso), Jose (Rosa), Luis (Maria), Rosa (Manuel), Maria Josie (Manuel); her grandchildren, Paula (John), Joe (Christina), Jose, Anita, Carlos (Diana), Odette (Duane), Susanna (Leo), Jennifer (Ryan), Elizabeth, Ted, Stefanie, John, James, great-grandchildren, Manuel Ze, Tomaz and sister Guilhermina from Portugal. The family would like to thank Maria's daughter-in-law for all the care she gave to mom over the years and especially over the last few months. The family would also like to thank Nurse Tracey (coordinator), Nurse Alma and the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for all the assistance and care they gave over the past few months. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N.
