Prior to his employ in Recreation, his association as a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce allowed him the opportunity to become one of the first volunteer supervisors (1962-64) of the Winnipeg Boys and Girls Club. From 1962 to 1967, Jack was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. As well as being an active Executive Member, he sang tenor with the Pine Tones Quartet. To date this is the only quartet from Winnipeg to obtain a score high enough to represent the Land of Lakes District in International Competition. This they did in 1965. From 1971 to 1978, he was a member of the Manitoba Wrestling Association holding the positions of Vice-President, Tournament Coordinator and Publicity. From 1972 to 1978, he was a member of the Greater Winnipeg Bantam Football League, elected twice President, Vice-President and Publicity. From 1975 to present, Jack was a member of Football Manitoba and held various positions including President, Vice-President, and Treasurer and in 1988 was elevated to Life Member. He also served on the Program Committee of Football Canada.
