HELEN GREGORCHUK 1923 - 2007 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our dear Mother and Baba Helen Gregorchuk December 30, 2007 at Riverview Health Centre. She will be sadly missed by her two sons Jim (Anne) and Lloyd (Lori) and her granddaughters Maggie and Emily, her sister Ruth (Walter) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1972 and parents George and Mary Pacaluko and her siblings Ella, Kay, Tina, Mike, Henry, Lena, and Peter. Helen grew up on the family farm at Thalberg, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg and took up a job as a housekeeper. She then worked for CN Rail restaurants. She enjoyed the travel and spoke of Edmonton as being her favourite city. While working for CN she met and then married John and returned to live in Winnipeg. They built a house in King's Park and she worked for food services at the University of Manitoba until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, and shopping with friends and family in the neighbourhood. She loved cooking and was famous for her holubtsi, perogies and homemade bread. Helen was a faithful member of King's Park Pentecostal Church. She spent many summers at the Manhattan Beach Bible Camp. She and John's home was always open and welcoming and it was often a temporary home of members of the family. She always maintained a special bond with her nieces. She was an excellent mother, who had to parent on her own after she was widowed with a young family. She sacrificed to always provide the best for her sons. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but will be welcomed in Heaven. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway R3C 0S6 THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY www.thomsoninthepark.com 925-1120 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
