JACOB KASDORF Peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2007, our beloved father and Opa, Jacob Kasdorf, passed away at the age of 85 at Concordia Hospital. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Catarina, with whom he shared life's journey for the past 62 years. He is also survived and will be greatly missed by 13 children: Anelise (Ewald) Wiebe, Hans (Hedi) Kasdorf, Irene (Rudy) Schartner, Henry (Ruth) Kasdorf, Robert (Karin) Kasdorf, Marlene (Helmut) Boschmann, Woldemar (Irmgard) Kasdorf, Elvira (John) Bergen, Erna (Dave) Friesen, Rudy (Miriam) Kasdorf, Alfred Kasdorf, Ewald (Helen) Kasdorf and Arnie (Helen) Kasdorf, as well as 52 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, the most recent one being born this past Christmas Day. Jacob was born in Russia on April 24, 1922. However, at age seven, he along with his family fled Communist Russia, and eventually settled in Brazil after a short stay in Germany. On August 25, 1945 Jacob married Catarina Koop and started their family. In 1969, Jacob and Catarina and children moved to Canada and established a new life there. They were active members of Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, and enjoyed a full life of work and family activities. Jacob was a quiet, caring man who had a strong faith in God and a great love for all his family. Particularly, we will remember the wonderful relationship he had with Catarina. Their love and commitment to each other through all of life's challenges will remain an inspiration and example for all of us. We would like to thank Dr. Isaac and the staff at Concordia Hospital for the wonderful care given to dad and to all of us in the past few weeks. Your compassion and efforts were greatly appreciated. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. Donations in dad's memory may be made to the work of the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
