DOROTHY AGNES PATERSON February 8, 1919 - December 25, 2007 It is with deep sorrow that the family of Dorothy Agnes Paterson announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the Maples Personal Care Facility. She was 88 years of age. Although she will be missed by her family and friends, we find comfort in knowing that she has now gone to join her soul mate Bruce who predeceased her in December 2005. Dorothy leaves to mourn, her daughter Gail (Mitch), sons Ted (Karen) and Don (Susan); grandchildren Jeff (Rhonda), Shaunna, Jennifer (Chris), Jayne (Dan), Kelley (Patrick), Melanie (Ian) and Shelley (Nolan); great-grandchildren, Sydney, Jordan, Cole, Myah, Nathaniel, Jack, Lucas and Will; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg on February 8, 1919. At 14, while attending Luxton Elementary School, she met her lifelong partner Bruce. They were married on February 14, 1942, a partnership that spanned over 72 years. Winnipeg was their home and in their retirement, enjoyed 18 years in their winter getaway in Yuma, Arizona. Although Mom was known to be fiercely independent and strong willed at times, she also had a very gentle side. Affectionately known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she and Poppa always enjoyed their visits, letters and phone calls. The family extends special thanks to the caregivers at the Maples Personal Care Facility and those at Home Care who provided her with loving support while she was in her own home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, at 3:00 p.m. with viewing one half hour prior to the service at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., interment to follow.
