Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER FERDINAND POMMER It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his residence near Seven Sisters Falls, MB, at the age of 91 years. He left us to be with his Lord and Saviour and to join his wife, Adina, who passed away on December 7, 1996. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Joyce Bobert of Saskatoon, SK, June Wagner and Darlene (Martin) Seier of Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren Ryan (Trish) Bobert, Saskatoon, SK, Larissa (Shane) Kolenosky, Kindersley, SK, Kimberley Sims, New Canaan, Connecticut, USA, Richard Wagner, Winnipeg, MB, Kirby Seier, Winnipeg, MB; great-grandchildren Alannah and Sarah Bobert, Jerzy Kolenosky and Nicole and Danielle Sims, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his parents John and Augusta Pommer; half brother William (Bill) Drien; brothers Rudolf, Adolf (Art), Bernhard (Ben), Theodore (Ted), Leonard, Albert, Harold; and in-law Edwin Bobert in September 2005. Dad was born on April 5, 1916 in Whitemouth, MB. As a young man he helped his parents farm, worked in a logging camp and fur trapped for two winters up north around Snowshoe and Haggerty lakes. On April 10, 1942 he married Adina (Tenie) Rosin at River Hills, MB. Besides farming near Whitemouth Falls, Dad also worked as a bulldozer operator at Great Falls and Seven Sisters Falls and later did water level readings for the Winnipeg Electric Co. In 1955 they sold the farm and moved to Stony Mountain, MB operating a grocery store for two years and then moved to Winnipeg. Dad worked for Quinn Construction, Tri-Angle Auto and lastly T. Eaton Company for 16 years. After moving to his current residence, Dad worked another two years for Meisner Construction before deciding to retire. Dad loved the outdoors and was an avid reader, Scrabble and card player. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger year. Dad, may you now enjoy your favourite pastimes in God's beautiful garden. A funeral service to celebrate Dad's life will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church at River Hills, MB. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kirby Seier, Ryan Bobert, Richard Wagner, Donald Pommer, Ronald Pommer and Vernon Pommer. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad's memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 277, Whitemouth, MB R0E 2G0.
