Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEBRA YOUNG 1933 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Debra Young on January 3, 2008. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her brother Michael (Helen); her children, Ken (Shirley), Brent (Debbie), Clara (Mike), Debby (Andy), Tom (Angela), Teri (Bruce); her grandchildren, Ernest (Kim), Debbie (Shannon), Corrine (Trevor), Patrick, Nicholas, Rebecca (Curtis), Cynthia, Ryan, Rianne and Caelainn; her great-grandchildren, Cody, Tanya, Sara, Chyanne, Devin, Brooklyn, Cailey, Kyla and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Debra was born on May 7, 1933 in Southy, Saskatchewan. She left home at an early age and had the adventure of her life travelling with The Barnum Bailey Circus. She settled in Ontario in 1955 and started her family. She made many lifelong friends during her 2l years in Ontario. In 1976 Debra welcomed the change and opportunities that awaited her and her children in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During her 22 years in Winnipeg she enjoyed life to the fullest. Bingo, crossword puzzles, monthly lunches with her friends, weekends at the lake, her many pets, especially her favourite cat Rupert and soaking up the sun during the summer were her major pastimes. In 1998 Debra decided to spend her twilight years close to her youngest granddaughter in Steinbach. The slower pace and quiet nights made her feel like she was back home in Ontario. Her warm heart and smile touched the hearts of many. Her greatest joy was our huge family gatherings and the hugs and kisses that went with it. There was nothing better than seeing her face light up after being told I love you Grandma from her great-grandchildren. Debra will be missed dearly by her family and all those who had the pleasure to know her. The family would like to thank the staff of the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital for their care and support. Service to be held Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to The Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715

Well Mom, it has now been a long hard 15 years since your passing. It's hard to fathom that you have been gone that long already. We, your children, remember your smile and laughter as if it were just yesterday that you were here sitting with us. The tears don't ever go away Mom. When we gather together and remember our lives with you, the heartache in losing you is overwhelming to say the least. We often wish that we could have spent more time and done more things with you, but God had his own plans. Our hearts are glad that you have no more pain and suffering, and that you get to spend your days in the sun walking beside our brother, sister and father. We will never forget you Mom, and the love you have given each one of us. We all love you and miss you dearly. - Posted by: Debby Hein (Daughter) on: Feb 23, 2023
