FRANK B. GOOMANSINGH It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Frank following a three year courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on January 2, 2008, at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Helen for 53 years. Loving father to his seven children; Grace (Peter), Neil, Flora (Jeff), Russel (Flor), Marlene (Mike), Jacqueline (Wes) and Debbie (Ron). Cherished grandfather to his 13 grandchildren; Daniel, Crystal, David, Ryan, Melissa, Jasmine, Devon, Selene, Nicholas, Dyllan, Brendan, Cassandra and Ariana. Great-grandfather to Jordan. Brother of Chandrakala. He was predeceased by his sister, Sylvia and brothers Vic and Lalsingh. He was a well loved uncle and will be missed by his relatives in Trinidad, the United States and here in Canada. Frank came to Canada in 1969. He earned a diploma from Red River Community College in Business Administration. He worked in the field of accounting and payroll at Cara Operations for 18 years. Frank was an elder in the Granville Presbyterian Church in Trinidad. He later served as treasurer at the Harstone United Church in Winnipeg. Frank left his family a legacy of great love, courage and close family ties. He believed that learning was a life long journey. He was an avid reader and knowledgeable in world history and politics. One always learned something from Frank if one really listened to him. He told his children fascinating and humorous experiences of his life in Trinidad. He was a man of integrity and firmly stood by his beliefs and principles. Frank was a very interesting yet humble man who held a quiet magnetism that was inspiring and unforgettable. He enjoyed the simple things in life like sunny days, Sunday drives to the parks, picnics and holiday celebrations. Frank enjoyed bowling, exercising, and his passion for golf and tennis never waned. In his younger days, Frank was a very good snooker player. He advocated a healthy lifestyle. Frank had a keen eye for scenic landscapes and during his retirement years painted beautiful pictures for his children. He loved Canada and was a very proud Winnipegger. Frank recently said that he was blessed with a good life and had no regrets. The family would like to extend sincere and heartfelt thanks to Diana Rasmussen, Christina Clark and the wonderful staff at the Brummitt Feasby ALS House for their kindness, care and compassion for Frank. They cared for Frank with dignity and the utmost respect. The family would also like to thank our friends and relatives for their love and support throughout this difficult time. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Thomson In the Park Funeral Home on 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House at 106 Kirby Drive, Wpg. MB R2Y 0E8 or the ALS Society of Manitoba, N108-2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
