Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN JACOB RITTER John passed away on Sunday morning, December 30, 2007, in the peaceful surroundings of Riverview Health Centre, with his family by his side. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose; children, Darlene Cameron (Murray), Doug Ritter (Joyce); grandchildren, Kylie (Jonathan), Aynsley (Cory), Ian (Aimee), Ashley and two great-grandsons, Ross and Max. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Anderson of Winnipeg, brother Ralph Ritter (Gloria) of Melville, Saskatchewan, sister-in-law Lina Knight of Winnipeg, several cousins, nephews and nieces. John was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on December 20, 1925 to Louise Kullman and Adam Ritter. In 1942, he moved to Winnipeg where he met Rose. Together, they raised a family yet maintained close ties to Melville. John was employed by CN Rail and retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. John possessed exceptional carpentry skills and in his spare time, built several houses, cottages, garages, and fences with help from his good friend Art Roberts and his brothers-in-law, Dan and Gordon. He successfully passed on these skills to his son, son-in-law, and nephews. We are grateful for the life that we shared and are reassured that John is now resting peacefully. The family would like to acknowledge Drs. George Balko, and Paul Shelton, The Palliative Home Care Team, with special thanks to Norma, Pharmacists Myrna and Alfred. The final ten days of John's life were spent at Riverview Health Centre under the medical treatment of Drs. M. Garcia and D. Baird and the compassionate care of the nurses and health care aids of 3 East. Thank you to all. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If so desired, donations may be sent to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, phone: 478-6271, The Alzheimer's Society, for Research, phone: 943-6622 or The Manitoba Lung Association, phone: 774-5501.
