FRIEDA FROESE January 2, 1913 - January 3, 2008 Peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Riverview Health Centre with family by her side, Frieda passed away at the age of 95. She was a fighter who had overcome cancer, but succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease after a struggle of over 20 years. Frieda was predeceased by all her six siblings, as well as her husband of 22 years, John Froese in 1964; her youngest daughter, Linda McNab in 1999; and two granddaughters in infancy. She is survived by three daughters, Marianne (Walter) Tokar, Eleonore (David) Hamilton of Edmonton, and Johanna (Gerry) Green; son-in-law Bert McNab, and sister-in-law Nellie Froese. Also surviving and missing her are her nine grandchildren - Kathy Bueti and Natalie Chan; Sharon, Craig and Colin Hamilton; Christopher and Patrick Green and Shannon Ross; and Kyle McNab. In the last six years she was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Payton and Delaney Chan, who loved to visit Oma Frieda at Riverview; Sarah Hamilton; Kennedy and Brody Green, and Evan Ross. Frieda was a hard worker all her life. Before her marriage and after John's death, she worked as a hairdresser. While a homemaker, she was always busy cleaning, baking and sewing - everything from curtains to winter coats for her girls. Her dementia forced her to spend the last ten years of her life in personal care, first at Vista Park Lodge and the last five years at Riverview. We would like to extend a big thank you to all the wonderful caring staff at Riverview, particularly Kathy, who did so much, especially the last week, to comfort the family and keep Frieda comfortable. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made in Frieda's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, or the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue.
