DORIS FRASER 1915 - 2008 Peacefully on January 2, 2008 Doris left us. Remaining to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Michael (Chantal) Johnson, Robert Johnson, Heather (Mark) Kristjansson; great-grandchildren, Christopher (Amber Steggles) Johnson, Scott Johnson, Justin and Julia Johnson and her dear son-in-law Dennis (Liisa) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her first husband Michael Harrow (1946); husband Ted Fraser (1977); her precious daughter Jeannette (1992); and by her five brothers, Harry, John, Steve, Bill, Mike; her seven sisters, Teenie, Anne, Mary, Nellie, Violet, Jessie, Lily and parents, Alexander and Sadie Babij. Born in Malonton, Manitoba, Doris grew up on the family farm. After the death of her mother in the 1917 flu epidemic, her father gave Doris and her siblings the love and life lessons to make them independent and hard working individuals. Doris had a great love of family and always kept her brothers, sisters and in-laws close to her. Doris' pride was her only child Jeannette, her grandchildren, and their families. With weekends at her beloved cottage at Winnipeg Beach or at family dinners that she loved hosting, Doris showed her family the importance of staying together, a value earlier taught to her by her father. The family would like to thank the staff of 3North at Calvary Place for the care and compassion they gave to Nanny or Honeybunny as she affectionately came to be known. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, at the Aubrey Street Chapel of Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. at Aubrey Street. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin Street, Winnipeg, R3E 3R6, in memory of Doris Fraser.
