Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS MARY POPE WATSON Gladys Mary Pope Watson, 82, passed away peacefully December 3, 2007 at her Phoenix home. Born September 18, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ernie, sister Constance Blask and parents Ada and George Pope, immigrants to Canada from England. Gladys and Ernie met at a post-war social dance in Winnipeg in 1945 and married in June, 1947. They moved to Phoenix in 1955 with their two young sons, and summered in Sooke on Vancouver Island for many years. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. An excellent homemaker, known especially for her mince meat and lemon tarts and cookies. Among her many talents were sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Gladys had a keen memory and intellect, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. Gladys is survived by sons Charles (Mary Ann) of Mesa, Arizona and Gordon (Patty) of Spring, Texas; one granddaughter Nicole; four grandsons Tim, Kevin, Charles and Byron; sister Florence (Bob) McFetridge of Sooke, BC and their family; numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, United States, Scotland and England. Services will be held in Winnipeg at a later date.
