ALVIN DOYLE 1921 - 2008 Peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2008 in Victoria Hospital at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Doris. Alvin was predeceased by his mother Eva and father, William. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Doris; son, David (Bernice) and granddaughter Diane of Sherwood Park, Alberta; son, Andrew (Christy), and granddaughter Catherine of Oakbank, MB; son, Bill of Strathclair, MB; brother Earl (Joyce), and many family members and friends. Born in Winnipeg in 1921, Alvin was raised in Souris, Manitoba. He had a 30 year career with the military serving with the R.C.A.F. He served in England from 1941-1945, and retired from the Air Force in 1969. Following his retirement , Alvin was employed with Metro Drugs and the Oakbank Credit Union until he formally retired in 1986. Alvin met the love of his life, Doris, at the Old Fort Dance Hall in Winnipeg in 1945. They were married the same year and enjoyed 62 years of happiness. In keeping with Alvin's wishes cremation has taken place and a service in his memory will be held at the Oakbank United Church Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited Canada, P.O. Box 1160, Stonewall, Manitoba R0C 2Z0. And a special thank-you to all the staff on the 5th floor South of the Victoria Hospital who were so caring and compassionate to Alvin.
