Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER NIZNOWSKI On the evening of January 4, 2008, Peter left his suffering for the loving arms of his Saviour. His memory will be treasured by his wife of 48 years, Joyce (nee Sitko), his daughters, Sheila (Wendell Kolsun), Lorraine (Rene Milner), sons, Glen (Therese Vodon), Richard (Amie Knight), his 13 grandchildren, Kurt and Eric Kolsun, Lauryssa, Kaitlyn, Emily, Mathew, Gabriella, Isaiah, Julia, Natalie Milner, Alex, Drew and Lelan Knight (Niznowski). Peter is survived by sisters Anne Seitz of Placerville CA; Tina Niznowski of Winnipeg; Stella Sitko of Oakburn; brothers Frank Niznowski of Brandon; Walter Maydaniuk of Elphinstone. He was predeceased by his father Mike Niznowski; mother Cora Maydaniuk; stepfather Steve Maydaniuk and sister Jean Pratt of Brooks, AB. Peter was born on the farm near Olha, MB in 1937. After finishing school in Zaporoza, he went to work at various jobs. Dad worked the gas pipeline in B.C., logging in ON, he trained as a front-end mechanic and worked at Remington Tire and Firestone. In 1974 he moved his family north to Cranberry Portage where he worked in maintenance for Frontier School Division until his retirement in 1991. Dad never left his farming roots as he farmed land at Glass, Menzie, and Swan River, MB over the years. His northern adventures took him wild rice farming which was his passion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and landscaping his properties. He was a very skilled carpenter who could build anything from a birdhouse to his own dwelling. He was a self-taught musician building his own cymbala. He treated everyone to his natural musical abilities whether it be guitar, violin, accordion or cymbala. Dad loved traveling, touring various destinations with mom including Rome, Israel and Ukraine. Dad was a man of deep faith and was dedicated to helping others in any way he could. He was especially devoted to serving in his Church, the Canadian Martyrs Church. Prayers will be held Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St. Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery. We, the family, would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and support staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre especially nurses Arlene, Caroline and Dorothy on 3rd floor east wing for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Development and Peace, Canadian Catholic Organization, 211 Edmonton Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1R4.
