Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILMA SOLBERG (nee VAN NIEKERK) Peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2008, our beloved mother, wife of Don and grandma passed away at the age of 65 following a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Don with whom she shared life's journey for the past 43 years. She can now rest in peace with our loving thoughts, we'll cherish all the glorious memories you made for us. Mom will always be in the hearts of her children and deeply missed by Gene (Joanne), Laura (Colleen), Wayne (Arlene) and her six grandchildren, Justin (Hailey), Matthew, Brayden, Alexa, Allysa and Brianna. Mom leaves to mourn her sisters Nellie (Harry), Gerda (Don), brothers Gerry (Gidgi), Ted and William (Irma). Mom came to Canada with her family in 1951, she was born in Wassenaar, Holland. Mom grew up in Lorette, Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg and then she settled in Lac Du Bonnet. She was predeceased by her mother and father Gerarda and William and her sisters Jackie and Cathy. Mom enjoyed all the simple things that life had to offer. She was the essence of quiet dignity and grace, when we asked her for advice she would always point us in the right direction. She always made sure we made it home safe. Flowers are nature's poetry, a language universal in meaning and beauty, Mom loved her flowers and enjoyed gardening. She also thoroughly enjoyed her knitting and crocheting. She always amazed us with her home cooking and new recipes that she would whip up. Our family would like to express our gratitude and our appreciation to the entire staff at the Pinawa Hospital, the EMS personnel, and especially our cousin Gerda for your care and compassion. We are also very thankful to the Cancer Care team at the Health Sciences Centre. We wish to express a very special heartfelt thank you for making our mom number one and for always putting a smile on her face. With respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Lac Du Bonnet Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 9 at 12:00 noon. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Lac Du Bonnet Legion. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Wilma's memory to the Pinawa Community Cancer Program, in care of Box 220, Pinawa, MB ROE 1LO. We will always remember Mom for her strength and guidance and she will be extremely missed by all of us, we love you Mom and we'll see you again. She loved her garden And now she's in the Lord's Most beautiful garden. She has passed into her most beautiful journey To meet loved ones on that golden shore. We praise God for her strength And her willingness to give. Life was not easy for her. Now God has given her victory Over all difficulties she has endured.
