CYRIL ALBERT MYALL On Sunday January 6, 2008 as the sun went down Cyril (affectionately known as Sir Cy to some) Albert Myall passed peacefully with family by his side. He led a full and active life and lived independently until April 2007. He was predeceased by the love of his life Adrienne in 1979 and his brothers and sister in England. Left to celebrate his life are his children, Phyllis (Kurt), Maurice (Anne Marie), Penny (Evan), Jacqueline (Percy), Roger (Julie), Michael (Gail), Ronald (Della) and Richard (Shelley), 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his former wife Mary and other family and friends. Dad was born in 1916 in England and joined the RAF in 1941. Stationed in North Battleford, Saskatchewan during the war he met and married Adrienne. He returned to England after the war with Adrienne and Phyllis, where Maurice was born. After a short stay the family returned to North Battleford where Dad obtained his diploma in Psychiatric Nursing in 1951. Penny, Jackie and Roger followed and then in 1957 the family relocated to Selkirk where Mike, Ron and Rick were born. He spent the remainder of his life in Selkirk. Dad worked at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre until 1980 first as a Psychiatric Nurse and then as the first Recreation Director at the facility. He also worked part-time for 31 years for the RCMP in Selkirk as a night guard. In his youth and when his oldest children were young he was very involved in sports, particularly baseball and then later Dad and Mom enjoyed curling. In the late 1960s and early 1970s Dad and Mom spent many hours entertaining with their small band Adrienne and the Blue Aces. He was a devoted life member of both the ANAF and Legion, having served several terms as President of the ANAF and remained on the Executive until 2007. He loved to dance, tell and hear a good joke, drink spiced rum and ginger, tease his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watch Hockey Night in Canada and the Blue Jays, eat licorice allsorts, play crib and darts (and cheat at both), and had to have the milk in his cup before the tea. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nursing staff of the Betel Home for the wonderful compassionate care given to our Dad and Poppa. We will celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9 at the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to the Selkirk Betel Home or the ANAF, Selkirk Branch would be greatly appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
