Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WALTER HIRST It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, uncle, great-uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. James Walter Hirst passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Personal Care Home in Lac du Bonnet, MB at the age of 87 years. Jim will be forever remembered and loved by his loving wife Grace of 65 years; sons, Walter (Karen) Hirst of Kingston, Ontario, Richard (Joanne) Hirst of Omemme, Ontario, Charles (Sally) Hirst of Lac du Bonnet, MB; daughters, Mae (Bud) Osis of Star Lake, MB, Carole Paczkoski of Winnipeg, MB, Joyce (Terry) Wysocki of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters Evelyn Nelson and Shirley Demenko and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Haldora Hirst; two brothers Frank and Gordon Hirst; three sisters, Kaye Keating, Margaret Henry and Frances Jones; two sons-in-law Bernie Buhay and Ignace Paczkoski; his nephews Allan Hirst, Arnold Hirst, and Ronnie Hirst. Jim was born in Otto, MB in 1920. Jim worked on construction at Cold Spring Granite as well as Tantalum Mining. He loved fishing as well as playing cards. The family would like to thank the staff at the Personal Care Home in Lac du Bonnet for all the wonderful and compassionate care and support they provided for Jim. Friends may view at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour on Wednesday, January 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lac du Bonnet Legion, Lac du Bonnet, MB with Rev. Jake Doell officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, 75 McIntosh Street, Lac du Bonnet, MB ROE 1AO. I was sorry to learn that Jim had died. I knew him when I was a kid, I knew Frank better because he was still attending the Oak Point school when I started in 1934. Stanley Snidal and I used to have nice chats with them until they left for Riverton. They were always nice. I didn’t see much of Jimmy after that but renewed my friendship with Frank in the NWT.
