JOHN SISKA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Siska, beloved father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at home with family at the age of 93. John was born in Punnichy, Saskatchewan, his family was moved to Stratton, Ontario, where John worked in the bush camps to earn enough money to buy a farm in Argyle, Manitoba where he moved his family in 1942. John was married in 1948 to Mary Gow from Scotland whom he always referred to as his Bonnie Lasse. They farmed until 1953 when he built his first house of many in St. James, Winnipeg and to settle later in Elmwood, Winnipeg to raise their three children. John owned his own gravel truck which he hauled with until he retired at the age of 70. John was a wonderful man devoted husband and father he loved nothing more than being in the presence of his family especially his three granddaughters whom he referred to as his glamour girls. John also had six great-grandchildren who gave him great joy, each one of them had a special relationship with him, he was known to them as little papa. We all are honoured to of known and loved such a special man. John will join his parents George and Mary, sister Anne, brothers George and Joe in heaven. John will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife Mary of 59 years, children Margaret (John), Donnie and Victoria, grandchildren Carla (Karl), Jaime and Donna, great-grandchildren Paityn, Devon, Mackenzie, Daimin, Caden and Emily, brothers Ralph (Joan), Gabriel (Veronica), and Elias (Irma), sisters Betty, Barbara, Mary and Victoria (Norman). He will also be missed by numerous cousins, nephews nieces and friends. Prayers will be said on Sunday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gerards Catholic Church, 45 Foster St. Mass will be held on Monday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerard's Church, lunch will follow service. Interment will follow at Argyle Cemetery, Argyle, Manitoba The pallbearers will be, Don Siska, Karl Devlin, John Greenaway, Leon Geurts, Rob Hooper and Peter Polet.
